Halloween is just a few days away… which means it’s time for a bit of music to set the mood.
What tunes come to mind when you think of haunted houses and deserted cemeteries?
Somehow, I always hear the strains of dark psychobilly tunes teasing at my ears…
My gateway song was this one, by The Cramps.
Through many years and much musical adventuring, I ended up enjoying bands like Deadbolt. I don’t consider lyrics to be my top draw in music, but when you add dark tales to that swampy beat I’m sold. This is Halloween music to me.
What are your favorite moody Halloween season songs?
Nick Cave for sure! Some of his songs are pretty dark. I always think of the Violent Femmes "Country Death Song" and other tunes of murder and despair. The selection is large.
Michael might have that album (he has so much music). Looks like a great collection. I have a big soft spot for all that old rockabilly and garage rock.

Plenty of Nick Cave & the Bad Seeds fit in this category, and I have to agree with The Cramps being partially the reason why I love this season.
