I got so busy yesterday I forgot to send out a conversation post. Anyhow, here we are today then.
One thing that I really enjoy is looking at the talented artists and photographers on Instagram. Their posts provide a respite from the horrendous news, and some inspiration for my own art. I should probably spend less time looking and more time doing, but it’s easy to get sucked in and nice to see some beauty in the world.
Today I would love to hear about your favorite artists, photographers or other creative types that you follow. Share their Instagram, Flickr, or website. I’ll start highlighting one or two of them in the Sunday newsletters.
One artist I recently started following is Matthew J. Schultz. His ink work is so minute and precise! I cannot imagine how his hand doesn’t cramp up while creating these amazing pieces of repetitive shapes. Check out his Instagram for more amazing work.
I started watching that, and before it finished I picked up a pen and started drawing so I was only half watching. I didn't do what he was doing, but if was quite calming to listen to him talk. In my mind that could have been you talking.
I love Chris Austin https://www.instagram.com/chrisaustinart/ who paints sharks and orcas swimming through forests and cities. They are sinister and eerie and beautiful; I'm a fan. Thanks for the great topic!
And one more (I could add dozens more!) -Adam Benedict, a trans man who draws exquisitely, mostly of his own body, with commentary about the trans life experience. https://instagram.com/softooth?igshid=2r11bnovgqmp
So bright and cheery! I see her pop up in advertisements for art classes now and then, but hadn't really looked at her work closely. LOVE IT! And I think I will love who she is, too.
Just discovered this dude last night: https://youtu.be/DCYRo-hHtVM

That was delightful and mesmerizing.

Those are amazing! Thanks for sharing. They look very Pacific Northwest-ish, but I think he's in Australia?

It's annoying that you can't post images in comments here. Oh well.

interesting cars with SF neighborhoods as the backdrop
Ah! I love this. There was even a vintage trailer in there. This is a nice expansion of the green Volvo IG...
That’s funny you mention that. The green Volvo gram is a friend of mine who was inspired by the parked in sf gram.
I think they originally followed me on IG and I was "oh yes, I'm all about that!" haha

Patti's posts are poetry

Clever display of film stills with the color pallet
I like the juxtaposition of the pallet with the still. My eye wants to dissect the image and find the different colors.
Yes! That’s exactly what I do.
