Good morning everyone! Between Coronavirus and politics, things are getting a bit stressful these days. I could use some distraction to take my mind off of things, and I bet you could to. Let’s share our favorite distractions to help each other take a breather for a few minutes (or longer). Funny cartoons, memes, songs, interesting articles, cute animals, favorite instagram accounts - everything is welcome!
Here’s a starter: real one-star reviews of national parks, designed as park posters.
One of my favorite shows is The IT Crowd. It is one of the few things I've ever watched more than once. Here are some of the best moments (according to someone). https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TzMCjcVzPcM
I'm diverting myself with old podcasts of the original Dragnet radio show, before Jack Webb took it to the television. I've also been watching an original Star Trek each week in chronological televised order and then listening to the podcast Fascinating in which two Scottish lads critique the episode. I do this while carving into books to turn into art. My mind has turned to mush while caring for my elderly mother, so I haven't been able to delve into anything meaty of late. Just bibs and bobs here and there of enjoying Instagram artists and light stuff. I do LOVE that subpar parks Instagram!
There are so many great train trips to take (virtually), but otherwise I am watching way too many episodes of Escape to the Country because of my everlasting architectural love for English vernacular architecture.
Ooooh, I could get into watching those train trips. That driver's view is excellent. It reminds me of a couple of things. When Nolan was little, he was really into trains and we would get a VHS from the library that was just miniature trains and all the trappings of those tiny worlds. I also like to watch rollercoaster videos - here's a good one with no obnoxious "review" commentary. Just one "wooo!" along the way.
i have been distracting myself with nostalgic 90s tv. The Roku channel has all of the seasons of 30 Rock from the Sun, and two seasons of News Radio. News Radio is amazing but it makes me miss Phil Hartman a little.
AMAZING photos of slime molds and fungus.

never enough mushrooms!
Never enough!
It's the off-season now, but you can still watch hours of highlights from the Brooks Falls Bear Cam in Katmai National Park.

Adding to the undersea amazement, here is my favorite new video of a blanket octopus.

It's great you can multitask and listen to something enjoyable while working on your art. Double-delight!
This sounds like a job for a nearly 10-hour train journey: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3rDjPLvOShM

I LOVE Escape to the Country! I adore all the hosts except that Jonnie.
When I started watching there was something I couldn't quite articulate...so funny that I thought it was just me.
