What a hot Summer it turned out to be. Thankful for the long spring rains now.
Chloe and I are having a fine summer. I’m working quite a bit. Having fun at it though I work for a dog daycare camp and it’s pretty much what you’d expect. Super busy but I can bring Chloe to work so that’s all I can ask for. No trips for me really I’m laying low in the Briar Patch. I peered out and didn’t like what I saw so I dove back in.
Dogs dogs dogs! What fun. It must have been hotter than hell down there, I know that area gets the brunt of the heat when it's around. About all you can do when it's like that is stick close to home and try to stay cool. I was hoping to hear from you - glad that you're doing well!
i am so so SO excited you have a gelli plate now too! i've been taking the last couple weeks off instagram, but i was thinking of you last night while printing. i wondered "how is anne liking her plate?" and then i saw your kitchen table looking a lot like mine in this newsletter, and i knew the answer. i love not knowing what's going to work and what doesn't, and trying to work with my "mistakes." it's so easy it is to use, you can get into a rhythm and zone out and when you come to, there are all kinds of lovely papers to play with. the process is so fun i get out of my own brain's way!
I'm so happy to hear from you! I noticed your absence from IG and was worried. I'm glad you've just been taking a break from IG, it's a good thing to do now and then. I totally quite Twitter and rarely do anything on FB. I miss very little.
I love the gel plates. I tried (and mostly failed) image transfers, I'm pretty sure one problem was too much paint on the plate. I also want to try watercolors. Have you tried Posca pens? Also on my list. If you don't follow Drew Steinbrecher I highly recommend it. He does some interesting things with his printing! https://linktr.ee/drewsteinbrecher

Everyone I know is absolutely exhausted after this summer, including us, but I couldn't tell you why! Sorry to hear the end of the pool saga :(. Or maybe not sorry ;)
I am so BONE WEARY. We've had a few things going on here the last three weeks (everyone is fine now and no it wasn't Covid). Even before that I've just been feeling tired. Staring at the computer all day working doesn't help, I know that. I sleep okay most nights, but the weight of the world is just exhausting!
I was kind of sad the pool didn't show up this year.
Sorry :( I think it is partly the state of the world. There is so much that needs taking care of and few who have the power to really make a change in that respect are doing so (or seem to care), and it's taking a toll on all of us, trying to function in a system that fails so many.
It is very much the state of the world. I often wonder how I'm supposed to approach things (mostly work) as if everything is normal. It's so not anything we've dealt with before. Others before us have had major world event challenges, but we've had it pretty cake overall. Buckle up, here we go I guess!

The rabbit holes can really suck up your time! Sometimes they lead to really interesting things though. Has it been a year?!!
You’re right of course, sometimes rabbit holes do lead you to interesting things. There are rabbit holes in art making, for example.
