This was actually such a delightful uplift in my week! I haven't had Twitter for years and still manage to doom scroll, but I'd rather read this and admire the moss. Really love that collage, though, very raven-essence in an eerie and entrancing way.

I'm so glad to give you a lift! I've got plenty of moss photos, maybe I could turn this into a moss appreciation newsletter. Thanks about the collage! I want to write more about my art-making but always worry I will bore people. I don't know why. I must remember to write for me, and the folks who like it will stick around. The person who taught the collage class has a style that's part horror, part whimsical and I love it. I need to embrace my love of the strange and work it into my art. Getting there!

An artist I was friends with made collages with birds like that. They eventually turned into collages of goddesses, really fascinating process!

Mayvember indeed! I too like writing but it takes me DAYS! That’s my perfectionism affliction! Enjoyed your musings! Now I’m needing to run off and get to errands!

Ugh, Facebook. Hard to quit for me since a lot of dear friends from other places are on there a lot and I like that connection, but oy, the ads are a nuisance! And Instagram. There are so many artists I follow on IG but I’ve been spacing my visits there to every other day or three. I feel headachy if I spend too much time on the socials. Right now I’m immersing myself in Español on Duolingo. ¡me encanta!

Thanks for brightening my evening with your newsletter, Anne. That snowball bush is stupendous! Hugs to you all! Hasta luego! xo

Ugh indeed! I'm just getting tired of both of those sites, they're so draining. I also follow a lot of artists there, and enjoy following a couple of choice hashtags too. Until a bunch of posts using the hashtag show up that have nothing to do with the hashtag. ANNOYING. Anyhow - there are much better things to do with our time!

The snowball bush is wild! When we moved in it had been very unceremoniously pruned by basically lopping everything over a certain height off. The first year it shot out very long branches that went straight up, as plants are wont to do. We're talking 5+ feet long. No flowers on this branches until the next year, and now they get so heavy with flowers they droop over. I love it. I trim it a little bit to keep it from getting too out of control (but not much).

Hugs to you too! xoxo

Tis’ a bit gloomy Anne! Ah but not as gloomy as social media. I’m coming up on one full year of no more social media… I highly advise it to everyone as it is easily one of the best things I’ve ever done for myself. I’ve been much happier and more sane. Best to you Dog and Michael. Summer will come! (I think!)

Summer will come! We just have to be patient. I'm so glad to hear you're doing well. I think I'm starting to emerge from my winter funk. Slowly but surely... if only the world would shape up. Regarding social media - FB is just downright boring these days. I'll keep it because it's the only place I'm in touch wit some family members and there's a couple of groups that I like. Otherwise, MEH.

I wouldn't bet on the world shaping up but I would lay my eye teeth on the line the summer will break your funk! Keep up hope! I have already begun hitting hiking trails on the few nice days...it's gneiss!
