That's Gneiss! #67 ~ I AM NOT AMUSED
Usually I like snow, but friends - this is getting ridiculous.
This was the scene yesterday evening - it was nice to see the color as the sun went down. We’ve had an abundance of white ground and grey skies lately.
The first round of snow brought us about 3” - kind of fun, and my last three long commutes didn’t happen because of it. Yay!
The second round of snow brought us another 4.5” on top of what was left from the first round. We had to cancel our weekend plans to take things to the new house, including the trailer. Boo!
Nobody was skating at the skate park yesterday.
Round three is supposed to start later this afternoon.
Round four is supposed to arrive late Monday and continue through Tuesday.
Tuesday is the day the movers are scheduled to come. Of course the home we are leaving and the home we are moving to are within the red area, which is looking to get significant snowfall.
I really want this to be over. It’s frustrating to have no control over the situation, and to wait and see what happens. Will the movers brave the snow, or reschedule? Will we make it to our new home as planned, or have to sit in this empty house for who knows how many days waiting for a rescheduled appointment?
For once, I really want the weather forecasters to be wrong. They’ve been spot on with all of the storms so far. Uncertainties exist, but signs are pointing towards more snow.
Did I mention it’s also very cold? This isn’t the first time this week the temps have dropped below 15 degrees! My weather station tells me that the temp got down to 12.6 degrees, to be exact. One of my tasks today is taking down the weather station, but don’t worry! Once we get settled I’ll find the best spot for it at the new place and I’ll get back up and running again.
We’ll get through this, and I’m sure we’ll look back and say “oh hey, that sure was a wacky time wasn’t it?”
For now, we’ll just wait and see, and continue packing as if we’re really going on Tuesday.
Next week I WILL be writing to you from our new home, and this newsletter will return eventually to some semblance of not being about moving during the biggest snow event in 10 years.

Nolan and Mia emerged from their long trek and are now headed to Laos. They enjoyed their time in the jungle, although every meal was fish and rice. It’s 99 degrees where they are…
They reported that it’s 99 degrees where they are. That orange glow looks so good to me right now, even though I suspect there’s smoke involved in that coloring.
Tidbits
An amazing house of mirrors reflects the snowy landscape
Reading: I’m finding it hard to focus on reading at the moment.
Making: I’m really missing my stamp carving!
Recently eaten: we are about to enter the zone of only eating from restaurants… Michael made fried chicken the other day, and we had poutine for dinner last night.
Videos of the Week
How about some early electronic music to liven things up today?
My mind immediately leaped to this:

Paper vs. digital maps - what’s your preference?

Last week I asked you what you thought about snow.
By and large, I am a fan of snow. I love watching it fall in big, fat flakes, the pristine blanket of white it leaves over everything, and, yes, even driving in it. The only thing I don’t like about snow is the dirty stuff that’s left after plowing and driving and general life happens in and around it. I don’t care for shoveling it, either. If it’s deep enough that I can’t easily hike to my car, I just hunker down with a hot beverage and enjoy it by way of the window.
Well, since I rarely get to experience the snow, I really enjoy it when I have the opportunity. I'm sure months and months of it would affect my enjoyment. I love the crunch of the snow and the serenity of a snowy morning.
Snow is like water activities. That’s when I want it. When I want to be among it. For instance if I want to go surfing, I want water. If I want to go snowboarding I want snow. Of if dancing in the rain within my GF, the water. Or it’s the holidays and we are caroling and making snowmen- snow. But otherwise. I could leave it. I’m practical like that. Which makes some places that are close to snowy mountains the best. That’s why I love Florida. It rains a lot but I also live to swim in the ocean, pools and waterways. So no big whoop.
Definitely a love-hate relationship for me. I love the beauty, the silence, and the brightness of late night. I quickly grow weary of the disruption to daily life.
