That's Gneiss! #106 ~ Leaves everywhere!
Today I discovered there’s an active marketplace of items made from real human teeth on Etsy. You can buy jewelry made from teeth, or some molars should you be inclined to make something up yourself - 10 for $46.00! Do hurry though, as they sell out fast.
I have so many questions.
Please no - I don’t want to know the answers!
I’d rather eat pig liver! Actually I wouldn’t. I tried a bite today and spit it back out, much like some of my friends spit out beets. You know who did like the pig liver?
No surprises there. Rowland thoroughly enjoyed it, and has a few more tasty treats in the days ahead.
It’s been a quiet weekend after an hectic week at work. I was officially evicted from my work space for the next month as construction takes place. This means I’ll be working from different locations throughout the library district. While it will be nice to get out and visit libraries and talk with people, I can tell it’s going to get a bit tiresome too. It only takes a couple of days of disruption to really appreciate having a stable workspace. I’ve got a box of files in the trunk of my car, and am hoping to get some work done despite the chaos!
Needless to say, the quiet here at home is very welcome. Michael has come along on the evening walks the last two nights, which means we walk further faster and my hands are free to take more photos. It’s been fun to test the capacities of my new phone, especially in low light conditions.
This photo was taken when it was nearly dark - that is NOT sunshine lighting up the leaves! No special filters or otherwise messing around with the photo.
This photo was taken just a minute or so later, but looking in the opposite direction. You can see how dark it really was!
Tonight we headed off in a different direction, towards Everett Avenue. The weather was better so it wasn’t quite as dark out there. It’s tree silhouette season again!
It looks like that phone booth has something to say.
How many children have had their fingers smacked by the nuns here at Our Lady of Perpetual Help?
The return of tree silhouettes also means giant piles of leaves everywhere! Rowland enjoys sniffing them, and I enjoy kicking them about.
SO MANY LEAVES
I’m starting to spot some eager holiday decorators! I’ve decided that if this is what makes people happy, then good for them. The world is pretty crappy right now so I’m not going to begrudge anybody the things that brighten their day. Santa looks like a bit of a jerk though, shoving in front of that reindeer!
The alleyways around here are endlessly fascinating.
Tomorrow is another day off, then it’s a short work week for me. Next weekend we’re heading back to Yakivegas to visit with family. No doubt there will be many adventures to report when I return.
Until then - have a great week!

Happy 25th Bloodshot Records! So much good music to be found here.
Making: plans for a quick trip to Yakima to visit my parents next weekend! Also noodling around with sketching for my nature journaling class - nothing worth showing off!
Recently eaten (NOT): fried pig livers
Reading: I took some time to read a couple of humorous books this weekend - K is for Knifeball, and Effin’ Birds. Sometimes I just need some easy laughs. Also working on The Calculating Stars and In Praise of Walking. Both good!
Watching: Did I just say watching?! How weird is that? Michael shared the first episode of The Fall and Rise of Reginald Perrin, and old British comedy. It’s genius and I will be watching more!
Videos of the Week
This is a strange and wonderful film by Sid Laverents, who started making films at the age of 50. This film took four years to complete and is quite a feat considering the technology available at the time. It’s one of only a few amateur films that have been added to the National Film Registry.

Last week I asked what you’d like me to write about. I got some answers, but am not going to tell you what they were because then it wouldn't be a surprise! It’s not too late, you can send me suggestions or topics you’d like to know more about anytime.
